| of the "How not to" (HNT) series. |
| I apologise for my voice sounding |

| but it appears I have larengitis. |

| Well anyways, in the following presentation |
| we will explore the mechanics of the |
| Newgrounds Bulletin Board System (NG BBS) |
| and how to avoid being flamed |
| by the regular users. |
| I know I may not be the most active user |
| of the NG BBS |
| but there are certain things |
| I have discovered. |
| So without further ado, |
| I share with you |
| "How not to get flamed on the NG BBS" |
| If you are new to the NG BBS, |
| It is usually a good idea to |
| become more affiliated |
| with the FAQ |
| and lurk the forums. |
| You shouldn't have to look too far back |
| maybe 5 pages or so, |
| and you'll get the general idea |
| Acceptable |
| of what threads are acceptable |
| Not Acceptable |
| and what aren't. |
| First off, dont make a repetitive thread |
| You can find out if a thread will be |
| repetitive by using the BBS search. |
| For instance, say you want to make a |
| thread about flesh-eating rice-krispy treats |
| God: Appease me! |
| LMP: I'm screwed |
| Tom: Kitty likes when I appease Pagan Gods |
| that live in Tom Fulp's basement |
| which he sacrifices Lexmark printers to |
| in order to appease Pagan Gods. |
| Just go to the bottom left hand corner |
| and type in "Flesh Eating rice krispy treats" |
| Then click and select this as "text" |
| and begin the search. |
| If it is too long, reduce the wordiness |
| while keeping the main jist of it. |
| If other threads come up, |
| be sure to investigate |
| Post: Look at me, I'm a post! |
| as it will probably be redundant |
| Check those threads for information |
| or even post. |
| The next thing to look for when you are |
| lurking, or browsing the forums |
| is which threads have few posts |
| or are locked |
| Threads are generally locked |
| for good reason |
| they are too uninteresting for |
| it to be allowed to continue |
| it is annoying |
| it adds nothing to the community of NG |
| it is in the wrong forum, |
| or it directly insults the mods |
| Lol, the mods are fags, not nearly as cool as me |
| Messing with the moderators |
| is generally a bad idea |
| since they are the ones that control threads |
| Oh snap, I'm banned! |
| or ban members from posting. |
| So try not to say things like |
| "OMG so and so mod is a furry faggot |
| who gets off to watching goats fucking |
| Mod: I'm going to give you a few years ban to let you think about what you did |
| because I would imagine the mods |
| would ban you for that |

| How do I make thread? |
| Also, it is probably a good idea |
| to get some practise posting |
| and the best place is the |
| Clubs and Crews section. |
| If you join a club, |
| generally you will be accepted |
| Acceptance, oh joy! |
| and you will have a chance |
| to develop posting skills |
| without being ridiculed. |
