(beginning with the city)

The company's reputation very much depends on where its building is located. Companies situated in large inner cities such as Tokyo where rents are incredibly high are much more favourable than rural or suburban ones.

Name of the Building
and Floor Number

A company that owns its own office building is considered of much higher rank than the one that merely rents office space on one or two floors.

Telephone and
Fax Number

A company seems large if the name card indicates two differnt telephone numbers: One for the main swichboard or secretary and one for the telephone of the company worker's individual desk.

Company Name
or Logo

A company employee very much identifies with the name of the company he is employed at. When introducing oneself it is essential to state the company's name before your own. The name of the company should therefore be clearly visible on the card.

Classifying somebody's rank and business worth is essential in order to know how to talk and how to behave towards him. The employee's title or position is therefore one of the most important indications to display on the card.

(beginning with family name)

A name card always states the family name first. When verbally addressing the person opposite, one must always add the suffix 'san' to his family name. This indicates that you perceive him as an honourable person. Never, however, use this suffix with your own name.
