Summary

Summary

The Kings Hexes is a game which simulates two medieval kings attempting to
grow the surrounding regions around their castles. By growing larger they are able
to recruit more troops, and gather more levy from their citizens. The Kings Hexes
is a game which simulates city building by randomly drawing tiles from a shared
pool. Players win by having the most points at the end of the game.

Levels:

- One king no longer has deployable units AND no units remain in the shared pool.
- Both kings no longer have any units.

The game is made up of 10 levels that increase in map size and difficulty.  The
player may not proceed to the next level until they have beaten the opposing king.
If a level is tied or lost the player may replay as many times as needed to win. 
The score for each successful level is recorded and at the end of the 10th level a
total score is displayed.

A level will end and the winner determined when:

Maps in The King's Hexes come in three sizes: small, medium and large.  There are
four terrain types available:

How scoring works:

The points for each unit on the map are calculated after applying any neighboring
regional positive or negative modifiers.

<p align="right"><font face="_sans" size="12" color="#000000" letterSpacing="0.000000" kerning="0"><b>Using the example on the right:</b></font></p><p align="right"></p><p align="right"><font face="_sans" size="12" color="#ff0000" letterSpacing="0.000000" kerning="0">- A Castle is always worth 0 points.</font></p><p align="right"></p><p align="right"><font face="_sans" size="12" color="#0000ff" letterSpacing="0.000000" kerning="0">- The Hovel is worth 1 point but the Watch Tower <sbr />negates it. &nbsp;This means any neighboring regional <sbr />modifiers are also ignored. &nbsp;In this example both <sbr />the Thief Guild and Church are not applied to the <sbr />Hovel.</font></p><p align="right"></p><p align="right"><font face="_sans" size="12" color="#990099" letterSpacing="0.000000" kerning="0">- The Middle Class unit is worth 2 points and also <sbr />has a Church with a + 2 regional modifier for a <sbr />total of 4 points</font></p><p align="right"></p><p align="right"><font face="_sans" size="12" color="#ffffff" letterSpacing="0.000000" kerning="0">- The Market is worth 3 points and has both a <sbr />Church (+2) and a Thief Guild (-2) modifier. &nbsp;The <sbr />+2 modifier is added to the 3 for a total of 5 then &nbsp;<sbr />the -2 modifier is applied for a total of 3. </font></p>

- The total score is 7 points.

Strategy Tips:

The following tips may help you beat the opposing king:

1.  Do not spread your units too thin from the castle.  Remember that a well-placed
Saboteur unit by the enemy King may also eliminate units that become disconnected
from the castle.

2.  Be ruthless... if a chance to use the Saboteur, Watch Tower, Thief Guild or Sick
House is available you should use it to lower the opposing King's score.  The
opposing King will be even more ruthless in later levels.  His primary motivation is
score and what he can do to gain the highest point advantage possible each turn.

3.  If a Fountain unit is played the opposing King's goal will be to destroy it.  This
should also be true for the human player.  This unit can make the difference in
winning or losing the level.  Use a watch tower or saboteur units to remove it from
play.

4.  A few well-placed Poor Districts (No Connect) can prevent the opposing King from
using adder units (Hovel, Middle Class, Upper Class and Market).  If no other units
are in the King's hand to place on the human player it will require they pass the turn to
the human player.
