Set your Photoshop to look like this and click "OK" |
Back |
Now something like this should pop up. |
Now, find a render (picture) that you will use in your Userbar. This picture should be fairly small, and the background should be transparent, but it does not have to be. I used this for a render: |
Open your file with Photoshop while leaving the other one open, this is what you get: |
Now, drag and drop the render into the document that's 350X20. You should get something like below: |
Since you can barely see anything there, I will resize the image. I'll make it a little smaller. Example Below. |
I resied it a little, and made it smaller: |
Create 4 NEW layers. Rename the layer that already exists into "Render". Now, name your layers like the example below: |
Tip: To add a new layer, click on the circled button that was circled above. |
Now, select the "Background" layer. Then, select the Gradient Tool. If you don't know where that is, right-click on the Paint Bucket Tool, and then select Gradient Tool from the drop-down menu. Now, choose the colors that you think fit in with the color of the render. These are the colors I chose: |
Now, just drag a long line on the "Background" layer using the Gradient Tool, and it should color the background with multiple colors: |
Tip: If the colors show up above the render, then you colored the wrong layer. Undo your last action (Control-Z), and then select the "Background" layer, and repeat the process. |
Now, select the "Text" Layer, and then select the Type Tool (T). You will need a Pixel Font for the text. The most used and most preferrable font is "Visitor -BRK-". Go to: www.dafont.com and then search for "Visitor". It will come up with some results, select Visitor -BRK-, and then save it. Unpack it if needed, and copy it into your C:\Windows\Fonts folder. Select the white as your foreground color. Now, wherever there is empty space (In this case, to the right), type whatever you need to. My example will be, "Fable Player": |
We're still not done with the text yet, so let's move on |
Tip: When you downloaded Visitor -BRK-, it came with 3 fonts: Visitor -BRK-, Visitor TT1 BRK, and Visitor TT2 BRK. For this example, I used Visitor -BRK- |
Rasterize the layer with the text on it. To do this, click on the Text Layer so it's highlighted if you didn't already. Then, select any writing tool (Pencil, Brush, Paint Bucket, etc), and then draw anywhere. You will notice a little "No" sign, saying that you can't do that. That's okay, just color, and then a pop-up box will pop up, asking the folowing: |
Select OK. |
Now, you will notice that you Text Layer came back to normal, and that you can't edit your text anymore. This is what's supposed to happen, so it's okay. Press and hold control, then press over the icon of you Text Layer in your Layers Box. You will notice that a little square popped on the hand. Once you see that square, just click your left mouse button. You will see that you text in now selected: |
With your text highlighted, go to Edit>Stroke. Now enter the same exact settings as my example in the box that pops up: |
Now, when you click OK, you will notice that your text has a black border. Click any Marquee Tool (Square, Elliptical, Single Row, or Single Column), and just single click anywhere on the canvas. You will see something like this: |
We're now done with the text layer, let's move on, almost finished! |
Select your Shine layer, and then select your Elliptical Marquee Tool, the one that looks like a circle. Drag an oval like this over your creation: |
Now, select white as your foreground color, and press Control-Backspace, to fill everything with white inside your oval. Now, set the opacity of this layer to about 20% |
You will notice you now have a faint white "shine" effect over your creation |
Now we are going to add scanlines. Make a new layer, call it scanlines, this layer should be BELOW the border layer |
First, open a new document, size: 3 x 3 |
Zoom in all the way, and draw the following pattern with a 1-pixel pencil tool: |
Now go to Edit>Define Pattern And name the Pattern "Scanlines" |
Go back to your userbar, select Edit>Fill Use: Pattern and select the scalines you just made. |
You'll notice your scanlines appear on your userbar, so now just lower the opacity of that layer to whatever you see fits. |
Press "D" to reset your colors. Your foreground color should be black now. Select your Border Layer. Now, press Control-A to select all (or Select>All) You will see that your whole canvas is selected. Now make another stroke, by going to Edit>Stroke Copy my settings: |
Make sure that you either use CENTER or INSIDE, if you select OUTSIDE, no one will see your border. |
You are now finished with your Userbar. Congratulations! Now just save (File>Save or File>Save As...) I recommend that you save it as JPEG with highest settings for best quality Your finished image will look something like this: |
