General Newgrounds Knowledge |
This section is only for those who are new to Newgrounds. Newgrounds is a website that was created by Tom Fulp. It is a website where you can find a diverse range of flash content, as well as submit your own content. Good flashes can receive recognition by being posted on the front page and by earning awards. Until you get an account on Newgrounds (a Grounds Gold account), the only thing you will be able to do is browse the flash or audio content, and vote with a power of 1.0. If you have an account, you can: 1)Vote on submissions with high power (5.0+). 2)Submit your own flash and audio content. 3)Review flash and audio content. 4)Post on the forums. 5)Have a profile. |

Experience |
A measurement of your time on NG, based on daily deposits. It’s basically impossible to hack, so don’t. The levels go from 1-30, and the voting power goes up about 0.5 each time. VP goes up gradually after Level 9, so there’s never a jump in voting power. After reaching level 9, the difference becomes over 1500 per level and it’ll take a long time to advance a level. |
Batting Averages |
Once you have submitted 3 flashes that pass through the portal, you receive something called a Batting Average, or BA for short. Your batting average ranks how good of a flash author you are, and averages the scores of your three best flashes. This means that even if you have some crappy-scoring submissions in the portal, they won’t affect your BA. The exact scores needed to get each grade is determined by how high or low the highest BA is in the portal, which is currently held by chluaid, creator of the YuYu, who has a BA of 4.24. |
There are (most commonly) a few different batting averages you can get. C+ You get this if you are around a low 2. This means that you are either a beginner or you suck at flash. Or both. Don’t worry though. You can improve with practice. B+ You get this if you are in the mid 2 – low 3 range. This batting average is not one to be ashamed of even if you are not a beginner. It means that you are a decent flash maker. A+ Anywhere from a mid 3 to a 5 would get you an A+. An A+ batting average can categorize you as an expert flash author, and getting this is a great achievement. |
What type of grader are you? |
Veteran Do you put others' flash contents before your own neck? Do you believe that honesty is more important than rewards? Then you should by all means go here, and learn how to be a real man. |

You are an honest and fair grader. Welcome comrade, to the side of duty and servitude! Congratulations on making here, I’ll now try my best to give you a few pointers and descriptions on what to vote what. Once you finish watching a flash, think about the score it deserves rather than voting a 0 or a 5. No need to rush unless it’s time to sleep; it’s not like NG will die in 15 seconds. Now, I will try to communicate what flashes deserve what type of score. |
Flashes that deserve 0’s: This is the score that most crap movies deserve. If you closed a flash in pure disgust or boredom, this is the ideal score to give them. However, this is not the score you want to give something that at least looks like the author put some effort into it; it just won’t be fair. Usual suspects: Most crew movies (NOTE: some are pretty good, don’t blam all) Crap that doesn’t look like effort or tutorial-educated Flashes with such huge bugs that they should be re-made |
Flashes that deserve 1’s: This is the score that you give to something that deserves a low score and BLAMmage, but it isn’t pure crap. If it’s crap but it looks like the author made some effort, a 1 is the way to go. Usual suspects: Movies shorter than 30-45 seconds (unless they’re good) Demos / previews that aren’t any good Flashes with heavy bugs but look promising |
Flashes that deserve 2’s: Ahh, here is the boundary between a BLAM and a protect. A 2 means that the flash qualified in at least (usually just) 1 of these areas: Aesthetically pleasing, smoothly integrated, good humor / parody or a good idea. Remember: a 2 means that you want the flash to stay in the portal and that you want to give the author a chance. Feel good when you do it (unless the flash deserves better). Usual Recipients: Experiments (unless they’re good) A good try at animation, but not too good |
Flashes that deserve 3’s: A 3 means that the flash is almost at the level of getting an award but still lacks some elements that persuade you that it will become an award receiver. You definitely enjoy and feel good as you watch the flash, and you somewhat like it. Also, any flash that has 2-3 of the requirements described in 2 deserves a 3. Usual Recipients: Most quiz games with some effort and quality A simple game’s re-creation Something with strong effort but not quality |
Flashes that deserve 4’s: Here’s the real deal of voting. A 4 means that you definitely like most of the flash and like just about everything inside it, but there’s space to improve. Think about giving a 4 as saying “Your flash is good, I would feel good if I made that myself”. Remember, a 4 is a score that most flashes cannot reach! Usual recipients: Good animation Extremely good humor An addictive, fun game taken to the max |
Flashes that deserve 5’s: Ahh, the long-coveted 5, how ironic that so many people out there are abusing it… A 5 goes to one of the most absolutely fantastical flashes that you will see in your lifetime. Think that your 5’s are limited, and that handing out a 5 is like getting an acceptance letter from college or a company. This is a swell thing to give and receive! Usual recipients: High-end series Insanely good animation Something you just love Something you made (lol) |
I hope that you learned something from this. Best wishes that you go out there and help preserve peace and honesty to stay in NG. Also, don't forget to beef up your other stats and to get higher levels! Also, since you will probably have your opinions on what gets what score, I cannot give you a quiz. |
You are a speedy voter or a stat-whore. So, you’ve ended up here, eh, Mr. Evil? Well, have I got the guide for you. Once you finish reading my guide you’ll be getting 100 blam/protects points per day using only about 30 - 45 minutes. Blamming/Protecting is mainly covered by the FAQ. The rate in which your b/p points increase is controlled by your time on NG and your skills at b/p-ing (which I will instruct soon enough). They’re the number of your correctly-decided votes for under-judgment flashes here at NG. Once you reach the rank of “Elite Guard Sergeant”, the difference between the ranks will be 1000 and greater so it’ll take much longer to advance into the higher ranks. This is the NG Log (by Denvish and Casualty): Home Base to all Stat-Whores. |

How to vote on flash: |
Things to protect (Vote 5 to maximize chance of protection): 1.Flashes from major authors (includes bad ones too). 2.Flashes from a “crew” (CC, SS, and other existing), made by a member. 3.Anything with a decent plot that is over 30 seconds. 4.Something that is so retarded, it’s hilarious (these somehow always pass). NOTE: If you voted 5 and it got an undeserving high score, give it low points the NEXT day. Make sure you get the protection point first. Things to blam (Vote 0 to maximize chance of blam): 1.Crap (unless it’s in a category above) 2.Something that’s under 15 seconds, unless by a crew 3.Something under 5 seconds (almost no exceptions) 4.Flash with “person's first” in description that’s below average quality. 5.Flash with a description about not blamming it (unless it’s plainly good) 6.Resubmissions... UNLESS it clearly states that major improvements were made in the author's notes AND it shows it. |
There are 150-200 flashes into the portal every single day. Logically, you can easily catch 100 of them every day with only spending about 10-15 min. At that rate, you can become an Elite Guard Sergeant in 1 month projected time. Once you become a sergeant, you will probably be in the top 1000 B/P'ers. Therefore, after that, your rank will be rather stable. |
Blam/Protection Quiz |
This is a quiz that tests your ability of judging flash by first sight. This way, if you see a flash that resembles one of these (which often does happen), you'll know that 99% of the time the outcome is the answer that I have provided for you. Good luck, it will not be graded, but you will know whether you have gotten it right or wrong. |
Guidelines to Reviewing |
Reviewing (MANDATORY): 1. DON’T offend the author directly. 2. DON’T capitalize (repeatedly). 3. DON’T complain (about the flash making front page, about another reviewers being a dumb-ass, anything). 4. DON’T belittle (the review will get removed). 5. DON'T write something dramatically worse than the other reviews, it will get flagged. Reviewing (OPTIONAL): 1. DO write helpful criticism. 2. DO encourage! |
BBS Posting |
Posting (MANDATORY): 1. DON’T say anything stupid that will ensure flaming. 2. DON’T capitalize (repeatedly). 3. DON’T belittle anyone (the post will get removed). 4. DON'T write something completely off-topic from the other posts, it will get removed. 5. DO post as much as you can do it safely and "legally". This is on your Profile, might as well make it good. Reviewing (OPTIONAL): 1. DO try to answer others' questions if you can. |
Blowing the Whistle |
Whistles have one purpose: to "tattle" on troublemakers. This can be done in two ways: by reporting stolen/malicious flash and by calling a review abusive. Even though this sounds childish, having a good whistle comes in handy when someone gives you a useless review with a low score; you can have the mods remove it and M-Bot will be sending him/her with a warning PM. If it is bad enough, he/she will get BANNED! |
How to Use the Whistle |
Here's what to do: 1. Go to a crappy flash that's famous (examples: Retarded Chinese Babies, B, some junk on the front page) REMEMBER: Pick controversial topics! Just a bad phrasing or a bad message inside a review will not get it removed, and you WILL get NEGATIVE whistle points! Don't flag randomly! 2. Mark all reviews that are against the Portal rules as "abusive". Read them before marking or else you will make mistakes and lose points. 3. Score has a high correlation (relation) with the quality of the review; however, it is not 100%. Therefore, a lot of 0 reviews ARE good. |
Blow the whistle: 1. Stuff that is offensive to the author, some other reviewer, etc. 2. MOST OR ALL CAPITALIZED. 3. A review that says the flash sucks, even if it is gentle. Don’t blow the whistle: 1. Stuff that says improvements with criticism. 2. Short reviews (they didn’t really break any rules) 3. Useless reviews (just leave them alone) 4. LONG reviews, even if it has some MILD offenses. [SCROLL OVER THE WHISTLES FOR DETAILS] Name: Voting Power = Notes: |
Broken |
Broken |
Garbage 0 You need to blow this whistle on pre-blown reviews or flashes in order to get a “Normal” whistle again. It’s not the end of the world. |
Broken |
Normal |
Normal |
Normal 1 Most people are stuck at this level, not knowing what to do to get whistles. Distinguish yourself by getting a better whistle! |
Bronze |
Bronze |
Bronze 2 Slightly better than a “Normal” whistle, and looks a lot better. However, this is still (relatively) pretty easy to get. |
Silver |
Silver |
Silver 3 It’s shiny. It’s silver. A silver whistle is pretty impressive and its power is well balanced. Usually enough for the average NG-er. |
Gold |
Gold |
Gold 4 A gold whistle clearly distinguishes you from the rest of the NG-ers. This is not easy to get, so well done if you have one! |
Deity |
Deity |
Deity Infinity? Notes: A deity whistle is rumored to have infinite whistling power (in other words, it can flag something just by itself). Not confirmed. |
Do this for 2 hours for 15 days: BRONZE at day 2. SILVER at day 4. GOLD at day 6-7. DEITY at about day 13-15. Once you have the gold whistle, it will become hard to find crappy reviews. Therefore, going from a "gold" whistle to a "deity" whistle will be the hardest step in whistling. |
Whistles Quiz! |
There will be 6 questions. Each question will have a sample review and you will have 2 choices: to mark it abusive or to leave it alone. There is no time limit, exit at any time. It will not be graded, but you will know when you have gotten one wrong. Good luck! |
Finding Good Content |
Spending your time on Newgrounds to improving your portal stats is a hobby shared by many others, including us. Another part of Newgrounds is enjoying other people's content, and this tutorial will tell you how to find the best content. |
1. Frontpage. Tom Fulp often updates the front page with the submissions that the administrators of the site feel are great. Simply go to www.newgrounds.com or click the "Newgrounds" tank on the top of any NG page to find this content. 2. Award submissions. Scrolling down the frontpage, you will find a post by P-bot advertising the daily top 5. This is a good way to find content, and the popular author list under that can link you to submissions by favorite Newgrounds authors. Only the best submissions get awards (except Turd of the Weeks and Underdog of the Weeks, look at the awards guide under "Submitting" for information on that) so searching for award submissions are great. Search for award winning submissions here. |

3. Record breaking submissions. Here are two links that contain great content. a) http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/stats.html Stats of the most popular submissions and submitters. b) http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/top_rated.html List of top rated submissions based on the average score of reviewers. 4. Collections, Series, and Toons. On the top bar on Newgrounds.com, you will find links to the Collections, Series, and Toons. All submissions under these categories are agreed to be good content by both common Newgrounders and Newgrounds administrators. |

5. Blue scores. For good recent submissions, go to the portal front page and look for any submission highlighted in blue. These have all be voted on and got at least a 3.50/5.00. 6. Top 50. On the right side of the portal front page, you can see the top 50 rated of Newgrounds history. Clicking on the "View All" link at the bottom of the list will give you a list of all top-scoring submissions-much farther than 50 submissions. 7. Weekly Top 20, and the Past 20 Daily Winners. On the portal page, the columns labeled “Weekly Top 20” and “The Past 20 Daily Winners” are filled with good content. |

Browsing the Audio Portal |
The audio portal is one of Tom's great additions to Newgrounds. It serves two main purposes. 1. If you need some music for your submittion, the audio portal is the way to go. All of the music in the audio portal is free to use. In fact, using music from the audio portal even gives you a better chance of being featured on the front page. Here are some tips on how to find the right song. - The most obvious and efficient way, select the category that would go best with your game (if it is a Mario or Zelda game, you'd obviously choose video game) and there you have a list of the top rated songs for that category. - Find other games or movies that have the same genre or theme as yours, and look for other music by the same author. - Use the search bar to look for music. Searching for the authors ParagonX9 ZeRo-BaSs, and is a good idea ;) |
Once you find a song, click on the save button, and when it says "You have chosen to open NG_____.mp3", record the number that follows NG. Then, when you submit your flash, be sure to put that number in your audio credits. Oh, and once you import the song into your library, be sure to optimize your audio. No clue what I'm talking about? Read this. http://www.newgrounds.com/flash/audio.html 2. If flash isn't your thing, or if music is your thing, you may be interested in submitting music to the audio portal (http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/submit.php). If you're good enough, your music might be featured in popular games all over Newgrounds. Since you can't gain any experience on voting in the audio portal, if you are a stat whore, than you won't find any reason to vote in the audio portal. But your audio reviews are put on your profile, so you may want to review some music. To review, simply follow the same rules as writing a flash review. |

NG Forum (BBS) Definitions |
Before I begin this tutorial, I'll define some terms that you will need to know if you use the Forum. - BBS: Short for "bulletin board system", and is the other name for the forums - n00b: Someone who has little experience on a specific subject (newbie) - Reg: Someone who uses a forum frequently and follows the rules - Thread: One topic that appears on the forum - Bump: moving a thread to the top of the list by posting nothing important - Flamed: When a topic is flamed, it is often flooded with spam posts, many of which may be insults towards the topic starter - Locked: A thread that no one is allowed to post in - Mod: Short for "moderator", and is one who watches over the forum and "locks" rule-breaking threads, and can ban users from the forums - Collab: A flash movie or game that has more than one author |
NG Forum (BBS) How-To's |
Newgrounds offers a BBS, or bulletin board system, to everyone with a Grounds Gold account. When posting on the BBS, simply follow these rules, to avoid being flamed, and to avoid being banned. http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/rules.html To make the transition from a n00b to a reg on the boards, simply start interesting topics that follow the rules. Once you have about 1000 good posts on the BBS, you will be considered a reg. (A good post is at least semi-intelligent and doesn’t break the forum rules) The forums are looked over by the mods, whose usernames appear at the bottom of each page on the BBS. A mod will lock any topic that breaks the rules, and may ban users for continually breaking the rules. To become a mod, don't ask, and simply be as good of a reg as you can. When there is a mod shortage, a good and frequent poster will get the job. |

NG Forum (BBS) Forums |
There are many things that each forum has to offer. Here are some pros to each forum: General Forum You can talk about mostly anything. It's a great place to go when you're bored, but you might be banned for things that you subconsciously do and not control. Where is/How to? Forum You can ask questions about Newgrounds. Ask any questions that this tutorial might not answer, that is ;) There are also many threads that contain statistics, such as the top protectors, and the people with the most experience. This link will take you to a thread that leads you to abusive reviews. http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=74264 This link will take you to a thread that shows one's opinion of the overrated flash of the day. http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=615529 |

http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=615529 |
Flash Forum Ask any questions you have about flash here. But let me just warn you: if you ask an obvious question, you WILL be flamed. This link leads to a thread that contains a library of tutorials that teach you about actionscript. Another advantage of this forum is that you can participate in Collabs. Collabs here often consist of 10 or more authors, and participating in these is very fun. If you want to start your own collab, read this thread. There's not too much to say about the other forums…there are contests in the audio forum and in the art forum, and much more stuff to do, so check them all out and see where you fit in! If you're a stat whore, then BBS posts should be on your list of things to do, as they are recorded on your profile. |

NG MAG: What is it? |
The NG MAG (http://www.newgrounds.com/ngmag/) contains some cool features that are commonly overlooked by many Newgrounders. The NG MAG has four sections. 1. NG .DOC: http://www.newgrounds.com/ngmag/doc/ Unfortunately, there’s nothing to say here, since this section is still under construction. It should have plenty of Newgrounds news and history upon completion, but still, the best source for news on Newgrounds is from Tom’s posts on the front page. 2. Community news: http://www.newgrounds.com/ngmag/news Here you can read up on some interesting stories related to Newgrounds, but the number of articles is relatively small. Maybe you could help by holding your own interviews. 4.Alphas: http://www.newgrounds.com/ngmag/alphas/ Probably the most commonly used area of the NG MAG. An Alpha is a preview of a flash movie or game, through text, pictures, and maybe even some parts of the movie or game. Coming here is a great way to see if there are any good games coming out soon, and to give suggestions. You can also post an Alpha for your game to build up anticipation, and receive suggestions/feedback. That’s basically it for the NG MAG. It’s a pretty nifty addition to Newgrounds :D |

Impressing Newgrounders |
Sadly, many people will look at your submission for 10 seconds, and then vote. The best thing to do is to spend time perfecting the first impressions when you finish your flash. Here are some tips: 1. Make a nice and catchy title with a interesting or original avatar, or else few people will want to watch your movie at all. Which will you want to see more? "The Expert's Guide to NG" or "Newgrounds Tutorial"? 2. Use your author comments to advertise the submission. DON'T tell the user how to vote. DON'T say that it is your first flash, and DON'T tell the users about how young you might be. Also be sure to spell check it- you need to impress the viewers. If someone sees a comment that says "I'm only 10 years old and this is my firstest flash plz vote 5", then you are NOT going to get a good score. |
3.If there is a noticeable flash-related problem that you cannot fix, point it out in your author comments. Example: If the user needs flash player 8 or higher, make sure to say: ***Flash Player 8 required***. If you CAN fix the problem, DO IT. If you need help, ask here (http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/forum.php?id=2), look here (http://www.newgrounds.com/collection/flashtutorials.html), or look here (http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=229808&page=50) 4.Make sure that you have a pre-loader, a decent, original and impressive intro, and an interactive menu (interactive buttons and background). A good first impression is VERY important when going for high scores. Have a preloader regardless of file size. Here is a link to the updated Newgrounds preloader. |

5. Keep your file size small, but not too small or too compressed. If your flash is under 200 kb, make sure that everything is okay with your submission, and tell everyone in the author comments something like ***Full submission kept a relatively small XXX kb***. If your file size is too large, make sure to optimize your audio (http://www.newgrounds.com/flash/audio.html ), and tell users that there is a lot of content to contribute to the large file size. Now, of course you can't have a nice fancy first impression without any thing good to follow. This is against portal rules. You are going to have to get users to like it. Here are the following ways: 1. Nice-looking graphics 2. Nice sound 3. For games- simply something that is "fun", "addictive", and "entertaining" 4. For movies- humor, storyline, violence, etc. 5. Something with originality 6. Something that keeps the user hooked and gets them to watch/play the entire thing |

What are the awards? |
This section lists all the awards, with a little information on the amount of competition for it and what the scores tend to be on the outcome. This also includes information not on the FAQ, such as special rules for each award. Remember those carefully. |
Weekly User's Choice / Weekly Top 5: Definition: Highest scores at the end of the week Catches: None. This is basically the best award a flash can get. The flash that got this award is basically like the flash that won an "election". Likewise, this award is usually unbiased (the votes can't be rigged), so there are little catches/special rules to getting this award. This is because it is almost always under the top 5 of one select day, and all daily awards tend to be voted on more than 1000 times, especially the high-scoring ones. |
Daily Awards: Definition: The top 5 scored flashes at the end of every day. Catches: None. These prestigious awards are given to the highest-scoring 5 flashes out of judgment during that day's 24 hours. The top 3 places in this category count towards your score to becoming "King of the Portal" during that month: 1st place earns you 3 points, 2nd earns 2, and 3rd earns 1. The highest scorer becomes the "King of the Portal". |
Review Crew Pick: Definition: Highest review score at the end of the week Catches: 30 reviews MINIMUM WARNING: To inexperienced people (and people who haven’t tried for this): You will NEED a minimum of 30 reviews. This means that to even try for this award, you will need at least 15- 20 reviews, and a score of at least 9.00 out of those 20. Even if you have this, you will need 15-20 friends or just fans to review a "10" for you just to stand a chance. If you have less than 30 reviews, you won't even be considered. |
Underdog of the week (positive or negative): Definition: Biggest differential (vote score – review score) Catches: 30 reviews MINIMUM Similar to Review Crew, this needs 30 reviews (you will need it naturally or by a lot of supporters). The biggest difference is that this is not that prestigious of an award; hence not many reviews will come in. Therefore, about 33-50% of the time, the differential is about a 2-3. However, on other weeks where there’s a killer submission or a “crew” submission, the differential can go up to around a 5. |
Turd of the week: Definition: Lowest score at the end of the week. Catches: NO EDITING THE FLASH. I myself have fallen for this catch. Remember, IT’S NOT WORTH IT. If it’s scoring low enough or you don’t think it will pass judgment in its current state, and you want the TOTW, DON’T EDIT IT. The competition usually isn’t that strong, and about 5 friends with a VP (voting power) of 6 each can bring down a submission about 0.2 points in one week (before awards). Just don't edit it, and you'll be fine. |
How do I get an award? |
This section lists all the awards with information on what gets them and how you should modify/base on your flash on to get such an award. Reading this after you have started on a flash also won't hurt. |
Weekly Award: Goal: To make something dazzling awesome. Score Needed: 4.00+ How: To do this, you must be perfect in one of these categories and be exceptional in at least 2 more. Animation Plot Voicing Helpfulness (inspiration or tutorialwise) Humor Violence (must have good animation) Originality |
Daily Award: Goal: To make something that most people would have a strong liking for. Score: 3.40+, usually 3.60+ How: To do this, just try to make something that people would watch again and again. Try to not have any bugs unless the game is just plain awesome that it can be neglected (think Pokemon Red/Blue with all their glitches). Make the game neat and pleasing to the eye, which tends to make people give higher points subconsiously. Don’t try to cheat by having friends vote you up, because if you get an award you don’t deserve, all you will get is a much lower score and a hundred people giving bad reviews for your flash. IMPORTANT: look at the portal before submitting. If there are 5 blues, it's not a good idea. If it's Clock Day, not a good idea. |
Review Crew Pick: Goal: To make something where passionate people will write reviews, but others will just watch and leave. Score: 9.50+ Review Score How: There’s 2 ways to make this: the honest way or the cheap way. Honest: Make a flash where it’s really funny and good and make sure there’s no obvious place where people can criticize you. Cheap: Make a flash where people JUST WON’T REVIEW. This means to make a flash where nobody will like it or hate it. Then, tell your friends to storm reviews in and skyrocket the score. |
Underdog of the Week Goal: To make something that most people think is so-so, but a few moved fans will review extremely high scores or low abusive scores (remove them!). Score: Review score – 2 x Vote score = 4+ How: Make something half-assed, but include a powerful plot/message/topic. The score will be atrocious, but high reviews will be flying in. When low abusive reviews comes in, FLAG THEM and have them removed. |
Turd of the Week Goal: To make something barely survive judgment and then follow up to lose huge amount of points. Score: 1.60-, usually 1.45- How: The key here is to survive the portal judgment with as low as a score as possible. I’m not very experienced in this, but this is one award that is basically worthless. Even if you get it, your flash won’t have that many views, and your profile won’t look any better. If you’re any good at making flash, don’t aim here, |
Frontpage/Collections |
What are / How do you get Frontpage or Collections? Frontpage: This is a special part of NG. Getting on the front page has only 1 requirement: you must have a member of the NG administrators to like your flash. Nothing else. The scores for these are as high as 4.5's or as low as 1.5's. There is no predicting these (unless the flash was made by Tom Fulp himself, then it's definitely on there), and you can't ask for one. The only thing you can do to maximize your chances of getting on is to make your flash really good. Something that attracts admins or competition entries tend to have higher chances, so use that to your advantage. Collections: This is also a special part of NG. Getting into a collection requires a certain number of NG users to recommend your flash into that collection, and then a member of the NG admin team to confirm that your flash belongs in there. Again, there are no guarantees and the best thing you can do is to make the flash good. |

Question 1: Score: 10 Review: MAKE SOME MORE PLEASE PLEASE!!!! |
That is the correct answer. This violates the portal rules, because it is all in capital letters. It has a high chance of being removed. |

That is not the correct answer. Marking this as abusive is a waste of time, mostly because the mods seem to ignore requests like this. Don't mark reviews like this, even if your heart says so. The chance that you'll get negative review points is just too high. |

That is the correct answer. Because the past episodes are protected, it guarantees the protection of this new one. Also, the file size leaves not much room for fatal (mistakes) errors in submission. |

I'm sorry, but your flash isn't qualified for any award. Try again next time! |
I'll tell you how to see your score before your flash comes out of judgment. |
Requirements: It has to be a bit (and only a bit) after 12:00 AM ET for you to be able to do this properly. However, it pays off if you do. |
You Found the Easter Egg! |
1. Press "Entries Submitted Yesterday" |
2. Press "Rating" |
3. Voila! You can now see the BLAM threshold. |
Protect anything above this --> |
BLAM anything below this --> |
This is an example; apply it to whatever you happen to see. |
With this, you can automatically know what to protect and what to BLAM if you haven't already. However, keep in mind that this is not usable at any given time. It must be about 12-3AM ET, so it strongly favors west coast and out- of-country NGers. If you are aiming at Turd of the Week, you can purposely submit late, vote 5, and then procceed to know what to vote the second time (if it's high, vote 0 and tell others helping to do the same). Also, it's handy if you don't want to overrate a flash before it comes out of judgment. |
