this trainer is intended to show you how fast you react.

the game is simple. you wait until the dot changes colour and click anywhere on the screen as quickly as possible. the computer will record your average reaction time over 5 attempts.

when you're ready, click below to play...

if you've ever trained in any martial art, you'll know
that reacting quickly to situations is a vital part of
your training.
as your skill improves, you are able react without
thinking about your actions. in this way, you become
faster. because using conscious thought to plan
your reaction to stimuli requires more neurons to be
fired and thus takes longer than an unconscious
'startle' reflex action.
training enables us to 'teach' the most primative (but
fastest) part of our brain, the brain stem, to perform
actions quickly for us. this is what normally invokes
the involuntary 'startle' reflex action.

TEST FINISHED

some people will find that the last score, when the dot flashed up big, was their quickest reaction time. this generally means that the rest of the time, you were not using you 'startle' reflex to react quickly.
