1 - WRECKANOID 101

Welcome to Wreckanoid. This ain't your
daddy's Arkanoid, so you've got a few new
things to learn. First, you'll be fighting gravity
to clear the level. Swing your paddle at the
ball to launch it higher and get those nasty
hard-to-reach blocks out of the way.
Futhermore, the faster your ball is travelling,
the more damaging it will be. So you can
either wear away at the stronger blocks, or
knock them out with one killer blow. Give it a
shot, soldier.

2 - ONE TOUGH CUSTOMER

So by now you've got a grasp on the basics.
Sounds about time to throw something
inconvenient at you. Enter the black block.

Black blocks are incredibly durable, and
difficult to destroy by regular means. In most
cases, you'll have to work around them. Use
the speed of your paddle to guide the ball
where you need it to be. You don't need to
destroy the black blocks to finish a level.

3 - SMITHEREENS

Pretty troublesome, yes? Well I've never had
a problem I couldn't solve with explosives.
This is no exception.

Dang.

Some blocks are outfitted with a bomb. When
you destroy a block with a bomb attached, all
other blocks in the immediate area will be
reduced to pebbles. This includes the once-
immovable black blocks.

Sup?

4 - I'D HATE TO BE A SHINY ROW OF TILES

Another great way to ruin the lives of several
imaginary tiles at once is the row rocker.
When activated, a row bomb will destroy any
tiles sharing the same row.

Sux2BUguys

Shu'up.

Row rockers cause indirect explosive
damage, so they can activate most
powerups, but not other explosives.

5 - SOLAR BALL

Grab a Solar Ball pickup and you'll remember
why you keep that crazy old sphere of metal
around. When in solar mode, the ball will
plow through anything it touches. It won't
even care if those tiles have a family. You'll
see.

6 - DON'T THROW STONES IN A GLASS HOUSE

Probably shouldn't shower or fornicate
either. Not with the shape you're in. But in
Wreckanoid, we'll let you do all three. THESE

little fellahs are the weakest type of tile you'll
come across. Any small amount of force will
break through glass tiles with ease.

7 - ROCKETS

Any questions?

Oh, umm. The paddle is equipped with two
launchers each time you collect a rocket
pickup, with the left rocket always firing
before the right. Rockets fire directly upward
and explode on first impact. Any tiles around
the point of impact will be destroyed. Try to
avoid directly hitting a tile with a powerup, as
it will be wiped out in the blast.

Yeah, a few.

8 - WRECKANOID STANDARD ISSUE

With the minigun pickup, you'll have fifty tiny
little high-velocity presents to deliver to the
tiles as you see fit. Bullets fire directly
upwards, and cause non-explosive damage,
so they can be used to activate pickups. If
you're angry enough, they can also be used
to DEactivate alarm clocks, car tires, and
loud neighbours.

Srsly.

9 - CLOSE QUARTERS

Now you're up against the wall. With less
room to move, you'll need to be quicker with
your movements. To help you out, enjoy this
loverly new pickup, the paddle expander.
When collected, the width of your paddle will
increase, making it easier to catch the ball.

10 - ARTILLERY FIRE

The mortar gun will give you more control
over your shots than any other weapon. It
arcs over all interferences, allowing you to
pinpoint any single block to destroy. This
makes it very effective at activating
powerups from afar.

11 - TEXAS CHAINSAW SMASHACRE

Whoever said not to bring a sword to a
gunfight probably had their stupid arm
promptly sawn off by a chainsaw. As
effective on arms as it is on tiles, the
chainsaw can chew through a descending
column of tiles. If you have debris turned off,
this process will look about 30% as awesome
as it normally would.

Chainsaws are most effective when you
activate them distantly using the mortar gun.

Rar!

12 - REINFORCED STEEL

As if those stubborn blocks weren't resilient
enough, some of them will be reinforced with
either gold casing, or ice. Ice can be
shattered pretty easily, while the gold casing
will put up much more of a fight.

No joke this time! Soz!

13 - YOU KNEW THERE'D BE LASERS

Yes, it was bound to happen. You might as
well enjoy it. The sentry gun pickup attaches
two laser cannons to the side of your paddle.
Both guns occasionally choose a target tile
and unload a barrage of lasers.

While you can't control the sentry gun in any
way, it does offer the convenience of doing
the work for you while you concentrate on
keeping the ball up.

14 - LITTLE BALL OF SUNSHINE

Collect a claymore pickup and your once
quiet and reserved ball will turn into a
reckless killing machine, firing a continuous
burst of shots in every direction. The ball will
be affixed in place during this attack, leaving
you free to move about.

Even if not all of the bullets hit a tile, you can
be sure some flock of pigeons somewhere
won't be crapping on your car anymore.

15 - THE BEST FOR LAST

And so ends the beginner set, with the last
powerup not yet disclosed. And you can be
sure it's a keeper. The guided missile
launcher fires a single powerful missile that
will follow your mouse until you guide it into
a tile.

Once the missile impacts, it will have the
same effect as a rocket explosion, so be
careful not to destroy any powerups.

16 - YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN NOW

Yes, the same words you hear the moment
you graduate to university are the same
words you hear when you graduate to the
intermediate set. No more "witty" preamble
or motherly guidance.

Alright, one more for the road. Lasers reflect
off of glass tiles, so you'll need to clear those
out before you'll be able to do any good with
a sentry gun. It's basic video game science.

17 - CASTLE ROCKFALL

I'll do this one later

18 - BACKYARD DRUGSTORE

It'll take a couple of precise shots to empty
these bottles of grandpa's medicine.

19 - TILING CABINET

See what I did there? Hilarious.

20 - ICICLES DRIP

Remember running around and knocking all
the icicles off of your neighbours' sheds after
a good run of freezing rain? Maybe that's
more of a Canadian thing.

21 - SUBTLE IMAGERY PLACEMENT

If you don't make good use of that guided
missile, this level could be an honest pain in
your arse. Fair warning.

22 - METAL MAW

Hope you know how to make angled shots by
now.

23 - STACKS

Sneak through the cracks to slip into
someplace a little more vulnerable.

24 - DOMINO SPIRAL

Psst. Upper left corner.

25 - BREAK OUT THE BUBBLY

We're celebrating the third anniversary of
levels that are supposed to look like stuff.

26 - BOOMERANG

Whether or not it does, it isn't supposed to
look like a heart.

27 - RUBE GOLDBERG MACHINE

Find key points to set the destruction in
motion.

28 - CALL ME A POSIE

This one actually is supposed to look like
flowers. I'm really, really sorry. I promise
there's a level shaped like a naked girl riding
a motorbike later.

29 - BLACK ICE

Not to be confused with every men's
deoderant stick ever.

30 - NEMESIS

Face the nemesis and prove yourself worthy
of moving on to the Advanced set.

Navigate narrow paths in this borderline
frustrating introduction to the Advanced set.

Nothing a forty-five degree angle can't cure.

34 - VOLCANO

Natured is pissed at something.

35 - DESERT ISLAND

If you do well, I'll install a swim-up bar, I
promise.

36 - MEZZANINE

It's just a fancy word for lobby, really.

37 - TERMINAL VELOCITY

Strong vertical shots will be key in knocking
down these skyscrapers.

38 - SECURED ENTRY

Once you clear the front gates, the level
should crumble like a house of cards.

39 - DETROIT

The weapons in the alley should help.

40 - FORT KNOX

Rush the front wall or exploit the bomb-
rigged back door. How you finish
Wreckanoid's final level set is up to you.
