| Thats right... special effects... now before you get all excited.. I have to tell you that while I was making this tutorial I was also TEACHING MYSELF how to do special effects in flash. So don't be to hard on me. Ok.. so what kind of special effects are we going to learn? Well there's the kicker... The stuff I'm going to show you will work with ALL KINDS of effects... Smoke will help with explosions... Fire will help with rockets... and explosions... Water could be any liquid... Lightning can be used in alot of different places. BASICLY if you think you can't do something... you might find a way in this Tutorial. By the way as an added bonus I'm going to make a file available for download on my website that will have all the special effects from this tutorial in it so you can use them in your animations. |

| The trick to getting lightning right isn't the effect it'self it's the aftermath... you have to have DAMAGE done... cause if you blink you miss the lightning. Now not to say you can't have lightning that stays on screen and repeatedly zaps it's target... GO AHEAD! Remember just basic principles here no RULES... do whatever you think looks good... I prefer the lightning flash and really all you see is the aftermath... like a character turning black and crumbling to dust. SOUND is also VERY VITAL in lightning but for this tutorial I have left it out... why? Cause... it can get really annoying... and we all know what thunder sounds like right? best thing I can do is take the sample from earlier and explain how I made it... NEXT PAGE... |

| NOW THIS IS WHERE YOU PUT YOUR COOL BOLTS OF ZAP JUICE! Making believeable electricity in flash isn't to difficult even if you only have a slight idea what the real thing looks like. Basicly... Stick to blues and purples for electricity... but that is a rule... and you can break it if you can still tell the stuff is electricity. With one drop falling onto a surface it can do different things like if you put a drop of water on a sponge it would soak right in, but put that same drop on a table top and it reacts ALOT differently. Then the droplets break from the top of the crown and can sometimes cause thier own crowns to form thus causing another set of droplets.
